Cytochrome c heme attachment protein
WebDec 10, 2004 · A genetic approach is described here that enables the specific covalent attachment of heme via a short C-terminal peptide tag to an otherwise non-heme-binding protein. Covalent attachment of heme to the apo-protein is catalysed by the cytochrome c maturation system of Escherichia coli. WebC- type cytochromes are characterized by having the heme moiety covalently attached via thioether bonds between the heme vinyl groups and the thiols of conserved cysteine residues of the polypeptide chain.

Summary Other designations. cytochrome c heme attachment protein WebSep 6, 2011 · A heme-binding role for HCCS might be expected as heme is one of the two substrates. Such binding has been suggested in a study indicating heme binding to a CPV motif in Saccharomyces cerevisiae HCC 1 S , the protein required for heme attachment to cytochrome c 1 in fungi. CP sequences have been described as heme-regulatory motifs …
WebThe helical segments in the corresponding parts of the native holoprotein have little contact surface with heme, implying that the increased helical structure in the fragment complex may depend on tertiary interactions. The absence of the intervening polypeptide chain suggests that the complex represents a relatively independent folded subdomain.
