WebPoint Prim Lighthouse In service since 1845, Point Prim is the island’s oldest lighthouse. The structure stands 60 feet tall and marks the entrance to Hillsborough Bay on the southern coast. It’s one of the few round, brick lighthouses in Canada. Wood Islands Lighthouse WebPoint Prim Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island’s oldest lighthouse, was built in 1845. Although the total height of the lighthouse base to vane is 18.2m (60ft), the circular tower is only 49 feet high. It was built of local brick, and due to rapid weathering of the island brick it had to be sheathed and shingled two years later.
